US to teach Abrams tanks to fire new ammunition

The US Army has begun testing new ammunition for the M1A2 Abrams tanks. These are shells

designed to replace four obsolete ammunition at once. Discuss

There is not much information about the teachings:it is known that they take place at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. Two tanks from the Crazy Horse of the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment Fighting Eagles 3 are taking part in them.

The ammunition is called the XM 1147 AdvancedMulti-Purpose 120 mm caliber and should replace at once 4 types of shots from the Abrams arsenal obsolete by current standards: the cumulative M830, the universal anti-tank M830A1, the M1028 antipersonnel shell, and the M908 high-explosive concrete. It is noted that there are still doubts about the M908 - the new projectile is unlikely to cope with the fortifications.

Projectile deliveries to the US Ground Forces beganthis summer, from the beginning of autumn, tests are underway. The ammunition is intended for the latest modification of the Abrams M1A2SEPv3 tank, which is equipped with an upgraded fire control system.
