Valve has announced Half-Life: Alyx - a shooter with horror elements starring Alex

As promised, Valve has announced a new game based on the Half-Life universe, but this time the main character will not be Gordon

Freeman, and Alix.

What is known

Judging by the short trailer, players are in for a shooterwith elements of horror and in virtual reality. The main character of Half-Life: Alyx will be the girl Alix, who, together with her father Eli Vance, founded the resistance in City 17. Together they look for enemy vulnerabilities and help those who dare to challenge the Alliance.

In her adventures, Alyx will shoot off guards, hack alien computers, and even encounter headcrabs.

“You are humanity’s only chance for salvation.The Alliance's control over the planet only intensified after the Black Mesa incident: the remaining population was driven into cities by the invaders. The best earthly scientists remain among the inhabitants - you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance,” the description says.

According to Valve, players can expect a game created from scratchVR game with adapted controls. Moreover, not only Valve Index is supported, but also HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality. At the same time, owners of the Valve headset will receive Half-Life: Alyx for free, and users will receive additional content on top.

Players who purchased the Valve Index before the end of 2019 or are planning to purchase a headset will have access to special bonuses:

  • Explore the world of Half-Life: Alyx in a SteamVR home world
  • Alternate weapon skins to diversify Alyx's arsenal in the game
  • Special themed content from Half-Life: Alyx for CS:GO

Half-Life: Alyx will be released in March 2020, but Steam has already opened a game page where you can pre-order.
