Developers use different methods to promote their creations. Covers in stores have become one of these
According to the Gabe Newell Company, extra text and icons on banners interfere with perception and mislead gamers. Valve refers to problematic images as those that have tiny logos overwritten by text, an outdated rating, or non-localized captions that people can't understand.

To regulate the format of the covers, Valveprovided a list of rules for their design. As a banner, you can use illustrations with the name and subtitle of the game. The image should not contain the following information:
- Rating of reviews on Steam or from third-party resources.
- Logos and names of awards.
- Marketing text about discounts.
- Advertisement for another project.
- Extraneous text.

However, Valve did not become very strict, sothrew an exception. Developers will be able to talk about big updates (additional content, seasonal event, etc.) using a cover on Steam. But it must be a replacement image that will hang on the page for no more than a month. At the same time, the text on it must be translated into at least the languages supported by the game itself.
The new registration rules will come into force on September 1, 2022. In the event of a violation, Valve will restrict the product's visibility in the store and ban it from participation in sales and Steam events.
