Giraffes are listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's 2016 Red List of Endangered Wildlife as a "critically endangered" species.
По данным Фонда сохранения жирафов, в дикой природе осталось всего около 117 000 жирафов. Их численность в Африке за последние 30 лет резко сократилась на 30%.
Nairobi National Park is located just 7 km from the center of the Kenyan capital and attracts tourists with its wildlife. Lions, leopards, rhinos and buffaloes also live there.
Giraffe pregnancy lasts 15 months. They give birth standing up, and the cubs fall to the ground from almost two meters high. A newborn calf is larger than the average adult.
Worldwide, only a few births of twins have been recorded, which most often did not survive.
