As reported by Autonews, citing an interviewVolkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer, after 2025 the German automaker will no longer produce new models of cars with internal combustion engines (ICE).
The company plans to switch to 100% electric vehicles from 2033, but until then it will focus on upgrading existing models.
The latest cars of the new generationVolkswagen with internal combustion engines will include the compact crossover Tayron for the Chinese market and the updated T-Roc for the global market (due in 2025). Volkswagen is also going to introduce the eighth generation Golf in 2024, but the release of the ninth generation of cars with internal combustion engines is no longer planned. The all-electric Golf on the new SSP platform will most likely be shown after 2028.
