Together with the founder of Amazon, his younger brother, 53-year-old Mark Bezos, and 82-year-old pilot Wally will go into space
The New Shepard rocket will take off from the spaceport in Texas, after the separation of the capsule with the crew, the upper stage will make a vertical landing.
The New Shepard ship consists of an 18-metera reusable single-stage rocket with one BE-3 hydrogen-oxygen engine and a pressurized capsule for the crew. After launch, the rocket accelerates the spacecraft to a speed of about 3,200 km/h within three minutes, forcing the crew to experience g-forces of 3 g.
Then, at an altitude of about 75 km, separation occursa passenger capsule, which, while continuing to move by inertia, allows people in it to feel weightlessness. At about the fourth minute of the flight, the capsule reaches its apogee - a height slightly above 100 km.
Bezos’ company noted that the New Shepard flight can definitely be considered a space flight, since the ship will fly above the Karman line.
Blue Origin expects the capsule to rise to an altitude of 110-115 km. The vehicle will then descend to the surface on three parachutes a few kilometers from the launch site.
