In addition to iOS 14, Apple also introduced watchOS 7 — the latest software version,

designed to work on Apple Watch.Following the event, Apple immediately released the first beta version of the watchOS 7 update to developers for testing purposes. We'll tell you what's new on the Apple Watch right now.

How to download and install

To install the beta version you needDownload the appropriate configuration profile from the Apple Developer Center. Once the profile is installed, the watchOS 7 beta can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on iPhone by selecting General> "Software Update".

To upgrade to new softwareThe Apple Watch should have 50 percent charge, the watch should be placed on the charger, and it should be within the range of the iPhone. It would be wise to install the beta version on a non-primary device, as this is an early version of watchOS software that still has bugs that need to be fixed.

What's new?

  • watchOS 7 introduces a new sharing feature,which allows you to share your customized dials through Messages or Mail, discover through the App Store or through websites. Now the dial will be able to display more than one widget for each application, which show information from the applications.
  • New Chronograph Pro dials appear
  • watchOS 7 includes a new feature for the first timesleep tracking, which uses the Apple Watch's accelerometer to detect micro-movements. The feature provides information on how well a person slept, tracks sleep quality over time, and offers a "Wind Down" feature to help users get ready for bed. The sleep tracking feature will help customers develop healthier sleep habits by encouraging them to go to bed on time, get enough sleep, and set up a routine before bed. This will be achieved through the Wind Down feature, which allows users to create a routine that suits them, such as listening to soothing sounds or meditating using the app.watchOS 7 will work with the accelerometerhours to calculate the hours during which the owner was sleeping, and to determine whether they woke up between them. The chart will also display weekly sleep trends to show a visual snapshot of the owner’s habits. If the battery is low, users will be prompted to charge it before bedtime.
  • There is also an alarm function that usesa tactile response or quiet sounds, as well as sleep mode, which includes the Do Not Disturb function and automatically dims the clock screen when you sleep.
  • A new feature that tracks hand washing,to make sure you wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. There is a 20-second countdown timer that fires whenever the Apple Watch detects movements and sounds of handwashing. The Health app will also show the frequency and duration of the user's hand wash. Washing your hands for 20 seconds can be helpful in controlling diseases like COVID-19.
  • Activity app renamed to Fitness withnew types of workouts like Dance, Core Training and Cooldown. It will show an orderly presentation of important information such as activity, training, and activity trends.
  • “Hearing” application has been improved, now it includes media files
  • Directions for cycling are available in the Maps, and directions will also be provided so that users can choose the most efficient route and disconnect when it is preferable.
  • Siri can transfer money directly to Apple Watch.
  • watchOS 7 relies on auditory features,introduced in watchOS 6, and will now inform users about their headphone usage habits. A notification will be sent when the total weekly listening time on various devices exceeds the safe amount.

WatchOS 7 is currently only available to developers, but for the first time this year, Apple also plans to offer a watchOS beta for public beta testers.
