We arrived - Amazon closed the project of robots-couriers Scout

Amazon no longer sees a future for its robotic delivery man project.

What is known

The e-commerce giant has made a decisionclose the project and remove robotic couriers from the roads of American cities, or rather from the sidewalks. Amazon promises that the specialists who were part of the Scout team will have the opportunity to stay with the company. They will be able to move to other positions that match the experience and skills gained in the course of working with robots.

The decision to close the project was taken afterfield tests. According to Amazon representatives, during the tests it turned out that some aspects of the program did not meet the expectations of customers who used the services of robotic couriers. What exactly is at stake, the company is silent.

Amazon launched the Scout project in test mode in2019. The company involved six robots that looked like small moon rovers. They were used to deliver orders in Seattle around the Amazon office. The robotic courier moved along sidewalks along a given route. Over time, Scout appeared in Atlanta, Franklin and southern California.
