“We have a plan”: OPPO begins to get rid of included chargers

After initially ridiculing Apple for removing the charging brick from the iPhone 12, many companies soon did the same

most. Now, two years later, the most staunch brands are giving up. During yesterday's launch of the Reno 8 line in Europe, OPPO Vice President Billy Zhang announced a transition to a new strategy. It will consist in the fact that next year some OPPO smartphones will lose the included adapters. This can be a big problem for buyers, because the proprietary VOOC charging technology used in OPPO smartphones requires the use of proprietary chargers - third-party ones will charge smartphones much slower.

The top manager emphasized that the company“There's a plan”: “Customers have a hard time getting access to SuperVOOC chargers”, so we have to put them in the box. However, as we expand our business operations, we intend to take charging bricks out of the box and put them on store shelves so that everyone can buy them and continue to use them even as they upgrade to a new smartphone. Yes, such an explanation leaves more questions than answers, but the fact remains: starting next year, some OPPO smartphones (and, quite possibly, OnePlus) will begin to ship with a stripped-down kit.
