Western experts said it's time to say goodbye to MiG-29 fighters

Western experts said that MiG-29 fighters are becoming less and less relevant, and noted that

the time has come to say goodbye to them.

The opinion of experts is given by Military Review. The MiG-29 fighter first took off in 1977. It served as a counterweight to the American F-16 fighter.

Expert David Ax, however, believes that the “star” of the MiG-29 is beginning to fade after 40 years. And although hundreds of aircraft remain in service in many countries, in Russia their service life is coming to an end.

In the 80s, the MiG-29 was a significantprogress. It had an exceptional thrust-to-weight ratio, was maneuverable, and boasted the first operational sighting system for the R-73 air-to-air guided missile.

However, after the Cold War, more and more countries inincluding Russia, began to prefer larger and more powerful fighters, like the Su-27. Now the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Russian Navy have only 98 MiG-29s. Therefore, experts say, it's time to say goodbye to airplanes.
