The expert said that diets thatsuggest that the body receive no more than 600 kilocalories, with a minimum daily intake of 1200–1800 kilocalories, it does not lead to a decrease in fat, but to a reduction in muscle mass. A person does not receive the necessary nutrients.
The consequences of a low-calorie diet can be nutritional deficiencies, inhibition of reproductive function, the development of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and the musculoskeletal system.
“Such diets reduce the volume of muscle mass, and notreduce fat, and the metabolism slows down. Therefore, after strict calorie restriction in most people, weight returns, ”the specialist noted.
