Host Yan Shelest conducted an experiment, establishinggraphics accelerator RTX 3060 on two computers (modern and old) and testing it in games. The expert immediately warned that buying an expensive video card for ancient and cheap PC models is definitely not worth it. This will definitely not improve performance.
The modern version of the assembly includes a processorIntel Core i5 10600k and 32 GB RAM. The budget one was equipped with AMD Ryzen 3 1200 (a processor at the level of Intel Core i5-4430 or AMD FX-8350 in terms of performance), 8 GB of RAM, a 400 W power supply (recommended power supply power for the RTX 3060 is 550 W) .
After connecting the RTX 3060 to a weak Ryzen 3 1200-based computer, the presenter launched several games at ultra settings at 2K. From projects –Tom clancy's rainbow six,Control,Cyberpunk 2077.
In the first of the games listed, the averagethe performance was more than 100 fps, while in fights it was even 120-130 fps. In Control with ray tracing and DLSS enabled, the average number of frames was from 35 to 50, but there were also significant drops. But Cyberpunk 2077 (an open-world project, unlike previous ones) went very poorly with ray tracing and DLSS: average performance was about 20-25 fps. In a more modern build, Cyberpunk launched at a frame rate of about 40 fps.
The same story as with Cyberpunk 2077 was withWatch dogs legion: The video card was only 40-50 percent loaded.
This means that a powerful graphics card is capable ofshow maximum performance only in a modern build. The budget package will not be able to provide sufficient load for a graphics accelerator such as NVIDIA RTX 3060. In addition, new video cards even of the middle class can hardly fit into old computer cases: now they have excess cooling and large dimensions, which were previously characteristic only of flagship models.
