What is the difference between iPhone 7 and iPhone 6 - 5 main differences

The iPhone 7, presented at Apple's annual presentation, will be virtually indistinguishable in design from its own

predecessor – iPhone 6.However, “seven” presents improvements and modifications to any parameter in the device. The smartphone will have a better display, operating speed is almost twice (!) better than the iPhone 6, and the iPhone 7 will also offer a more capacious battery with new energy-saving technologies and a significantly improved camera.

The 7th generation iPhone outperforms its older brother from two years ago everywhere. Let's take a closer look.

Design

At first glance, you can say that they are no different. Well, nothing at all. The design is identical. This is despite the fact that Apple promised something completely new.

  • The biggest visual change – These are the antenna strips on the back of the case that have been moved to the top and bottom edges.
  • iPhone 7 is equipped with ultra-strong 7000 series aluminum alloy, which makes the smartphone more durable. This was probably necessary to avoid further problems with bending iPhones.
  • The camera sensor has become more protruding on the back of the body – more noticeable compared to the iPhone 6. This is because the camera sensor has become bulkier due to the more complex device.
  • Apple has removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack from the new iPhone, now you can listen to music through the Lightning port, from the same place where you insert the charging cable.
    • Instead of a 3.5 mm connector, there is now a second stereo speaker.
    • Aesthetically, it is more beautiful, but the second speaker also does not hurt.
    • Another speaker is located on top, within the earpiece.
    • These new speakers have the ability to play music louder and in stereo.
  • The iPhone 7 is much heavier than the iPhone 6 - 138 grams versus 129 grams.
  • To make up for the design gap, Apple decided not to focus on the external component, but to make the iPhone 7 water- and dust-resistant with an IP67 certificate.
    • This makes the iPhone waterproof, as does the Apple Watch 2.
    • IP67 certification refers to the fact that the device can be submerged for 30 minutes in water at a depth of 1 meter without any problems.
      • iPhone also will not allow to get inside of dust, sand or other substances. The iPhone 6 didn't have it all.
  • Apple will offer customers two new colors for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: Jet Black and plain black.
    • Jet Black has a glossy finish.
    • Smartphone in color Jet Black is available only in two trim levels: 128 GB and 256 GB.
    • Normal black color has a matte finish.
  • The iPhone 6 did not yet have the Rose Gold color, which only appeared on the 6S.
  • iPhone 7 has a capacitive Home button that you don't need to press – Just put your finger on it, and the iPhone 6S has a physical Home button.
    • The iPhone 7 Capacitive Button is designed with Tapic Engine technology. She looks like a Force Touch. That is, the button itself will determine the pressing force.
    • Apple first introduced this technology with its line of Macbook laptops in 2015.
  • iPhone 7 also features a new generation of Touch ID sensor.
    • This sensor recognizes a fingerprint much faster than Touch ID on the iPhone 6.
  • The overall dimensions of the iPhone 7 remain the same as the iPhone 6.

Display

  • Like previous smartphones: iPhone 6, iPhone 6S; The Phone 7 comes with the same display: a 4.7-inch Retina HD screen with a resolution of 1334 x 750.
    • Both devices have the same pixels per inch: 326 ppi
  • The iPhone 7 screen is 25% brighter than the iPhone 6s, and is already an order of magnitude brighter than the iPhone 6.
    • The screen of the iPhone 7 also offers a much wider range of colors.
  • The iPhone 6 lacks 3D Touch, which detects how hard you press the screen.
    • Apple first introduced 3D Touch with the iPhone 6s in 2015.
    • This technology is integrated even deeper into iOS 10.

Performance and Memory

  • The new A10 Fusion processor inside the iPhone 7 is much more powerful than the A9 chip inside the iPhone 6S
    • The A10 Fusion has four cores, two of which are high-performance, and two more – energy saving.
    • The A9 processor contains only two cores.
  • Apple says the A10 Fusion processor is about twice as powerful as the A8 chip in the iPhone 6.
  • The video accelerator paired with the A10 Fusion is also an order of magnitude higher than the video accelerator of the iPhone 6 A8.
    • All this is about three times faster than the A8 processor in the iPhone 6.
  • iPhone 7 is equipped with 3 gigabytes of RAM.
    • This is 2 gigabytes more than the iPhone 6.
  • With the iPhone 7, Apple has significantly upgraded the internal storage.
    • Unlike the iPhone 6, the minimum memory in the iPhone 7 starts at 32 GB.
    • There is no longer a 64GB model. In return, Apple offers 128 GB.
    • This will be the very first iPhone, which Apple has equipped with a 256-gigabyte version.
  • iPhone 7 can receive a faster Internet signal (450Mbps) via Wi-Fi, and the A10 Fusion supports the latest LTE-A protocol.

Camera

  • The camera on the iPhone 7 has received a huge upgrade and is much better than the iPhone 6.
    • iPhone 7 features a 12-megapixel sensor with a 6-element lens and an f/1.8 aperture size.
      • The iPhone 6, on the other hand, has a smaller f/2.2 aperture.
      • The iPhone 7's wider aperture allows it to absorb 50% more light.
  • iPhone 6 offers 3x digital zoom, iPhone 7 – fivefold.
  • iPhone 7 can record videos in 4K quality
    • Everything the iPhone 6 is capable of – video in FullHD format with a frame of 60fps.
  • iPhone 7 comes with brighter flash with Quad-LED True Tone technology.
    • In comparison, iPhone 6 offers dual-LED True Tone flash
    • Quad-LED flash is approximately 50% brighter.
  • The A10 Fusion processor on iPhone 7 has a smarter and faster ISP.
  • iPhone 6 cannot shoot “live” pictures.
    • iPhone 7 can take live snapshots.
    • Apple also plans to open up the opportunity for developers to make third-party software for “living” photo.
  • The front-facing HD camera has been significantly improved.
    • It now has a 7-megapixel sensor, replacing the 1.2-megapixel sensor on the iPhone 6.
    • It can also record video in Full-HD format.

Battery

The iPhone 7 claims to have the longest battery life (though slightly lower than the iPhone SE).

  • According to Apple, the iPhone 7 Plus will perform twice as long as the iPhone 6/6s.

As you can see, Apple has improved the new iPhonein almost every element – no matter where you look. Of course, if you have an iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 and you're not complaining about anything, – just try the new iPhone 7, you might want to buy it.
