What would happen if oil and gas never existed in the world

If gas and oil deposits had not been formed thanks to the ancient coal forests, then our world

would look different. But how different would it be from today?

The Industrial Revolution was for the most partassociated with coal. Wood and charcoal were used as fuel for iron smelting. But even in the 16th century in Britain, when the population of this country did not yet exceed 10 million people, wood was already becoming scarce.

Trees take up a lot of space and slowlyare growing. In addition, since wood has half the energy density compared to coal, it would have to be burned in greater quantities to produce energy. Most likely, the political leaders in this case would be the countries of South America, Russia, Canada, since there are a lot of forests in these territories.

In addition, without oil and coal in front of chemiststhe task of synthesizing hydrocarbons would be much more difficult. This synthesis would involve a long chain consisting of ethanol or vegetable oil. Synthetic rubber and plastics would have come much later and would have been too expensive to use in toys or bags.

Natural gas – it is an important ingredient forproduction of ammonia fertilizers. If such fertilizers did not exist, people would need four times more agricultural land to produce the same amount of food. This would dramatically reduce population growth on the planet.

Humanity could well receive electricity without oil or gas. For example, thanks to wind turbines and hydroelectric dams. But the electronics in this case would be very complex.

If computers existed, they would be very large and could only perform the most primitive tasks.

One of the major problems will bethe amount of smog and soot. This will be due to the fact that wood will be burned for cooking, heating, and for various industrial jobs. It may even lead to the fact that the average temperature on the planet will decrease, and the sun's rays will no longer reach the Earth's surface. Since forests will grow in limited areas, this will lead to wars over these territories. However, muskets and cannons will be used in this case.
