WhatsApp says goodbye to Windows Phone, iOS 8 and older versions of Android

The developers of the WhatsApp messenger report the cessation of support for the application on devices with old

operating system versions.

Who will be disconnected

So, as of today, support for the Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile platforms has been discontinued.

And from February 1st they will be removed from the support listAndroid 2.3.7 and above, as well as iOS 8 and above. Of course, WhatsApp will continue to work on these devices, but the application will not receive updates, so it may not work correctly.

“Because we are no longer actively developing for these operating systems, some features may stop working at any time,” the support page warns.

The company recommends updating and using the messenger on:

  • Android 4.0.3 and later;
  • iPhone with iOS 9 and later operating system;
  • Some phones running KaiOS 2.5.1 and later, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
