BrahMos Aerospace CEO Atula Rane said when India will create its first hypersonic
"BrahMos Aerospace is capable of producinghypersonic missiles. In 5-6 years, we will be able to get our first hypersonic missile based on the BrahMos missile,” Rane said. That is, the country should acquire its own weapons by 2027-2028.
BrahMos Aerospace is owned by Indianorganization of defense research and development and the Russian NPO Mashinostroyenia. The company already produces the BrahMos supersonic medium-range cruise missile. Its carriers are submarines, surface ships, and aircraft. The missile was created on the basis of the Russian supersonic anti-ship cruise missile P-800 Oniks.
A supersonic missile is one that is capable of reaching speeds from 1230 to 6150 km/h, and a hypersonic missile is considered to be from 6150 to 12300 km/h.
