A new study finds that men who put sexualized photos in their profiles
The study was conducted among 567 Americanstudents aged 18 to 25 years. About 57% of the participants were women and 43% were men. Participants were randomly shown one of eight fictitious Tinder profiles. The profiles showed a picture of the same man from the waist up. However, each photo had varying degrees of sexualization. Characteristics included masculinity, sexuality (with or without a shirt), and interest in relationships.
After viewing the profile, participants responded tovarious questions about the physical attractiveness, social attractiveness and competence of the man in the photo. They found that women perceived a shirtless man as more involved in risky sexual behavior, less socially attractive, and less competent. Women also considered a man interested in casual sex less attractive.
