Usually, when buying a kettle, people pay attention to such characteristics as power, volume, appearance, cost. But the material of the device most often does not play a big role.

At the same time, in almost all electric kettlesyou can find parts made of plastic. There are even models (the most budgetary ones) that are almost entirely made of this material. However, such kettles are not always safe.

The fact is that plastic is often addedmelamine resins. They allow you to make the material resistant to high temperatures and durable. It must be said that some not very pleasant stories have been associated with melamine resins (or melamine). One of them happened in 2008 in China.

In 2011, in March, the Federal Institute for Evaluationrisks in Germany published the results of a study on the dangers of using melamine resins in the creation of dishes. Such dishes, as it turned out, do no harm if they are not heated and if they do not come into contact with objects whose temperature is above 70 degrees Celsius. This means that this material is still dangerous when added to the plastic that teapots are made from.

In Russia, Rospotrebnadzor banned this substanceuse in the manufacture of dairy products. Therefore, there is always a chance that the plastic electric kettle you buy contains melamine. In order to check if this compound is present in the teapot, try looking for it in European online stores (or on the official websites of the stores). In addition, the CE marking must be on the packaging of the device, but it is important not to confuse it with the Chinese one: the difference between these logos will be only in the distance between the letters.
