Gavin Naylor, a researcher at the University of Florida who studies sharks, points out that there are advantages to the unusual head shape that hammerhead sharks have.

In general, experts believe that such advantages havethere are three of this predator. The first has to do with vision. The eyes of the hammerhead shark are located on two opposite sides, and this gives it the opportunity to see everything that is happening around.

The second advantage – availability of specialsensory organs in such fish. These organs are called “ampoules of Lorenzini”. They are located at the bottom of the “hammer”. Thanks to these pores, the shark can detect electricity and also detect prey on the ocean floor. Other shark species also have these organs, but hammerhead sharks have more of them.

The third advantage of hammerhead sharks is that the "hammerhead" allows the fish to turn faster while swimming. This also makes it possible to catch prey faster.
