According to John, the developers had to choosebetween 5G support and a 120Hz screen refresh rate, since both of these technologies are energy-hungry. If both were implemented, battery life would be reduced. As a result, Apple chose fifth-generation networks.
Marketing also played a significant role in this, becauseIt's easier to promote 5G than to explain to consumers the benefits of 120Hz displays. “5G is much easier to sell. Yes, geeks would love a 120Hz refresh rate, but the average buyer doesn't care about that. It’s much easier to promote a device that is “faster thanks to 5G” than to explain the benefit of a high refresh rate display,” writes Jon Prosser.
But he notes that Apple is technically already ready to use screens with a 120 Hz refresh rate, so they will definitely appear in future models.
