New study shows sport can play a critical role in promoting mental health

Scientists have noted that for many boys, sportis an important part of their lives and often the only "safe space" where they can receive positive socialization. Therefore, it was logical to assume that sport can play a significant role in protecting mental health.
The researchers interviewed young men whoplayed either cricket or Australian football. In the end, the researchers identified a number of positive things about playing for a sports club, including having like-minded friends, getting rid of school stress, and being able to interact with other men regardless of age or demographic. The researchers concluded that sports clubs are important for the mental health of young people.
