Why It's Good to Have Many Dogs in Your Neighborhood

If you want to find a safe area to live, choose one where residents trust each other and where people live

many dogs. At least these are the conclusions from a new study. Discuss

The researchers found that in areas with highmore dogs have lower rates of homicide, robbery and, to a lesser extent, aggravated assault. The fact is that people walking their dogs pay more attention to the street, which means they can notice criminals and scare them away.

“People walking their dogs are basicallypatrolling the neighborhood,” the researchers explained. They studied crime statistics from 2014 to 2016 for 595 neighborhoods. These data were combined with the results of a survey of residents in 2013. Also used data from a study that measured the level of trust in individual areas.

Research has shown that trust between neighbors is an important part of deterring crime. It also added an additional reason why dogs are good for humans.
