Windows 11 has built-in password cracking protection

A recent Windows 11 beta update helps users automatically block brute force attacks.

This is what is called brute force password selection. Discuss

Brute force attacks will now trigger account bans. In particular, they will be blocked after ten unsuccessful login attempts.

The new feature is available in Windows 11 Insider Preview builds 22528.1000 and later. This feature will also be rolled out to Windows 10, however users will have to enable it manually.

It is noted that even though brute force is simple and roughmethod (as its name suggests), it has experienced a resurgence due to the growing popularity of telecommuting. The number of such attacks increased from 150,000 a year to over one million at the start of the pandemic.
