The results of a recent study by specialists fromUnited Kingdom were published in the scientific journal BMC Public Health. The experts in them concluded that just one bottle of wine a week increases the likelihood of developing cancer as much as 5-10 cigarettes a week.
However, in the course of this study, scientists studied only the risk of developing cancer among the entire population as a whole.
The team also noted that men drinking one bottle of wine per week had a 1 percent lifetime increase in cancer risk, while women had a 1.4 percent increased risk of cancer.In other words, out of 1,000 men and 1,000 women who drinkOver the course of a week, about 10 men and 14 women will develop cancer.
This likelihood of getting cancer is comparable to smoking 5 cigarettes a week for men and 10 cigarettes a week for women.
