operating system on a PC or laptop.

What came up

Now users do not need a local copy of Windows on a disk or external drive - it will be possible to reinstall the OS over the network from the cloud.

“We heard reviews that some of youwould rather use a high-speed Internet connection to speed up this process by simply loading Windows, ”the function description says.

But…

However, there are several nuances. First, during reinstallation, all user applications will be deleted. And if you do not uncheck "Delete all" - you will lose both personal data and files.

Secondly, you need to download at least 2.86 GB of installation files from the cloud. Of course, this requires an uninterrupted network connection.

After that, the same assembly and version of the OS that stood before this will be installed.

So far, the new feature is only available in the Insider Preview version. In the user version, it will appear a little later.
