Worse Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 and Pixel 3: Sony Xperia 5 selfie camera disappointed DxOMark experts

At the beginning of September, Sony presented a new flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia 5, at the IFA 2019 exhibition.

DxOMark specialists finally got to it and assessed the capabilities of the front camera.

Verdict

Resource specialists noted good focusing when shooting with a wide-angle camera and detail, accurate exposure and wide dynamic range when shooting on the street.

But the camera has problems with white balance, noise and artifacts, selection of depth of field in portrait mode, and dynamic range indoors.

As a result, the smartphone’s selfie camera received 81 points for photo capabilities, and 76 points for video capabilities. The average score is 79.

In the overall DxOMark rating, Sony Xperia 5 ranksonly 15th place after Samsung Galaxy S9+ (81 points) and Apple iPhone XS Max (82 points). Xperia 1 has 1 point less and 16th place. But the king of the rating remains the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ with 99 points.
