Xiaomi 12S Ultra concept unveiled with Leica lens mount

We are accustomed to the fact that cooperation between smartphone manufacturers and well-known photo brands is usually

lies in abstract things like specialcolor correction and other software add-ons. Xiaomi did not like this stereotype, as a result of which it decided to break the usual boundaries of the industry. The company presented a concept version of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, equipped with a mount for installing professional lenses from the Leica M series.

At the same time, the company's engineers came up with an elegantthe design of an external bayonet mount, which allows you to both save the main cameras and install a third-party lens through an adapter. True, for this it was necessary to introduce a pair of 1″ IMX989 sensors: one is used in the same way as in the regular Xiaomi 12S Ultra, and the second is devoid of its own optics and is located in the center of the camera block. The width previously located there shifted lower, and the periscope camera had to be sacrificed altogether. However, the device does not need it, given the extensive range of Leica lenses. Alas, the company does not mention either the release date or the price of the device, which may indicate plans to leave the project at the level of a piece concept.
