The Chinese company Xiaomi has received a patent that describes a hybrid SIM card with support for fifth-generation networks.
The new device from Xiaomi, although it receiveda patent, but it’s not something revolutionary, because a year ago another company, Ziguang, demonstrated a similar device called SuperSIM. Why this is still not applied on modern smartphones - it does not depend on Chinese or other manufacturers of smartphones, because they are not the ones who manage the SIM cards, but the mobile operators. New cards are too expensive for them, if an ordinary SIM card can be replaced in three minutes and zero rubles, then a hybrid card will cost at least as much as an equivalent memory chip.
This technology looks quite interesting onat first glance, some observers even predict the success of such cards that they can significantly affect the smartphone market and the industry as a whole. Now many manufacturers equip their smartphones with double trays, one of which is hybrid. The user can use either two SIM cards, or one SIM card and a memory card.
There are companies that equip their devices with tripletrays, and users in this case can install both a memory card and two SIM cards. Many flagships generally do not have the ability to use a memory card. And in the future, some manufacturers want to leave only e-SIM in their smartphones, without physical cards.
What are the advantages of the new product over the digital sim card? Only that it will be possible for manufacturers to save on one tray and offer users to use the available ones to the full by combining a memory card and SIM. At the same time, the volume of internal memory can be increased for those smartphones that do not have a tray for memory cards.
