Xiaomi has recalled its 65-watt fast charge - it's easy to crack

Together with the Mi 10 flagships, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi GaN Type-C 65W fast charger with gallium nitride.

As the name suggests, this is a 65W charger. However, it had to be recalled.

Why?

Xiaomi recalls chargers due to threathacking by hackers. According to experts, hackers can remotely hack the memory chip, which controls the charging process and the degree of heating of the power supply, because the firmware is not encrypted in any way.

As a result, they can, for example, increase the current strength, which will lead to overheating and charging failure.

Therefore, Xiaomi GaN Type-C 65W disappeared from retail and online stores. It is not yet known when the vulnerability will be fixed and the charger will return to sale.
