Xiaomi leads the global 5G Android smartphone market

The Indian division of Xiaomi boasted that the company led the global Android smartphone market with

support for fifth generation networks. The corresponding entry appeared on the official Xiaomi India Twitter page.

How so?

According to GSMArena, 25 out of 35smartphones announced by the company in 2021 support fifth generation mobile networks. Since 2020, Xiaomi has released almost 50 models equipped with a 5G modem, while in total about 90 new products have appeared in the range.

According to Strategy Analytics, Q2In 2021, the company shipped 24 million 5G smartphones, including POCO and Redmi models, which allowed it to occupy 25.7% of the market. Vivo took the second place with a share of 18.5%. OPPO, Samsung and Realme took 17.9%, 16.7% and 5.9% of the market, respectively.

Experts from Strategy Analytics noted thatThe main reason for Xiaomi's success was the release of a large number of low-cost smartphones with 5G support. For example, the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G, which was unveiled in late spring and immediately became a bestseller in China.
