Xiaomi leads the global market for wearable gadgets

Xiaomi was able to overtake Huawei and take first place in the wearable electronics market in the second quarter of 2021

Compared to the second quarter of 2020, the share ofXiaomi decreased from 20.1% to 19.6%, despite an increase in shipments from 7.8 million to 8.0 million devices (+ 2.6%). Nevertheless, the company from Beijing managed to climb to the first line due to the fall of Huawei. The Shenzhen-based manufacturer dropped to third place, taking 9.2% of the market versus 21% in the base period. In the second quarter of this year, Huawei shipped 3.7 million wearable devices (-53.9%).

Californian settled between Xiaomi and Huaweigiant Apple. Its market share increased from 15.8% to 19.3%, and its supply volume increased from 6.1 million to 7.9 million units (+ 29.4%). The top five also includes Fitbit (3 million, 7.3%) and Samsung (2.5 million, 6.1%). The latter more than doubled its supplies (+ 114.4%).

The share of all other manufacturers in totalaccounted for 38.6% of gadgets (15.8%). Deliveries in comparison with the same period last year increased by 20.7%, and the share - by 38.6%. The market itself increased by 5.6% and reached 40.9 million devices.

Xiaomi was able to lead the market due to the largepopularity of sports bracelets Mi Band. But in the segment of smartwatches, it is only on the fifth line with a share of 5.7%, having shipped 1.5 million devices. Apple is the undisputed leader with a share of 31.1%. The top 5 also includes Huawei (2.3 million, 9%), Garmin (1.9 million, 7.6%) and Samsung (1.8 million, 7%).
