Xiaomi smartphones rise in price

Xiaomi is famous for smartphones with good hardware and fairly low price tags. However, this may soon

change: the company announced an increase in the price of flagship devices.

Prices are higher

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said thatthey are fed up with their reputation for producing cheap technology. For example, the latest flagship Mi 9 received a top-end Snapdragon 855 processor and a triple camera, but it costs €449 (2999 yuan, we have 14 thousand hryvnia).

But the “nine” seems to be the last flagshipwith such a price tag. “Actually, we want to get rid of the reputation that our phones cost less than 2,000 yuan. We want to invest more and make better products. This may be the last time our price will be below 3000 yuan. In the future, our phones may become more expensive. Not much, but more expensive,” Lei Jun emphasized.

Currently, some of the most expensive Xiaomi models are the special editions Mi Mix 3 Forbidden City (4999 yuan) and Mi 9 Transparent Edition (3999 yuan).

Most likely, the increase in price will not affect the Redmi and Poco brands, which were initially positioned as manufacturers of inexpensive smartphones.
