Year of periscope cameras? Two new modules are on the way

The Digital Chat Station informant reported that two new “lightweight periscope modules” have entered the testing stage, one of which is based on a 10-megapixel sensor, and the other on a 50-megapixel sensor.

The maximum multiplicity mentioned by himapproximation, reaching 5X, most likely applies only to the older model, while the younger one will be a little simpler, but also cheaper. Presumably, we are talking about some Xiaomi smartphones, and among them the most likely candidates are Xiaomi 14 Pro, Redmi K60 Extreme (Ultra) and Redmi K70 Pro. And do not forget that soon we are waiting for OPPO Reno 10 Pro +, and LG will show a variable periscope, which can get into the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Vivo X100 Pro + and, perhaps, other next-generation camera phones. In general, 2023 promises to be rich in smartphones with a steep optical zoom.
