YouTube started to automatically detect products in videos

YouTube has begun testing a new feature - automatically detecting the list of products on a video. Bye

testing extends to US residents.

The new feature shows a list of products, that were found in a particular video. This list will be shown in the block between recommended videos. This is how YouTube wants to help users learn more about the product shown in the video.

The move appears to be aimed at giving Google its share of the lucrative affiliate link market, as well as linking commerce directly to videos on the platform.

Lists can also act as a second recommendation algorithm. YouTube will display videos featuring similar products. Time will tell whether users need such a function.
